8:45 AM - 6:00 PM
Join us in celebrating the 101st anniversary of Women’s Right to Vote. On this tour we will learn how Newport played an important role in the 19th Amendment. Our day will start with a 90 minute guided tour of Newport. The local step on guide will be dressed as a suffragette and will highlight the sights connected with the vote campaign and the women of Newport. After our tour we will enjoy lunch at the Atlantic Restaurant while we watch a video about the history of US Suffrage Movement.
After lunch we will visit Marble House. This was the home of Alva Vanderbilt Belmont who was known to hold women’s rights rallies at her mansion. We’ll take a self guided tour of this gorgeous mansion that features more than half a million cubic feet of marble. We’ll complete the day with free time in downtown Newport before departing for home.
Bloom Bus Tours will pick us up in Putnam & Hillcrest Villages at 8:45AM and we expect to return to Foxboro around 6PM. Cost for this trip is $100. Included in the ticket is roundtrip transportation, guided tour of Newport, lunch and entrance fee to Marble House. Please call the office to sign up and pay no later than July 15th.
